Painless Reading II

13:27 Edit This 0 Comments »

Did you do your homework? Did you read and choose one short story? Was it difficult or painful? Maybe it wasn't difficult at all, and maybe it was interesting... So, you are ready for the next step:

With all the info you wrote from the story, you will create a STORYBOARD; Storyboards are series of illustrations or graphics that are used to tell a story. So, this is the second part of your homework:

- In groups of 4, choose the most important ideas of the story.
- With each idea, you will create one graphic, as a way to narrate the story through pictures (that's the idea of storyboards!)
- Make a presentation for the class, telling your story in a fun and entertaining way.
- At the end, you will make a conclusion of what you've done.

It is important for YOU to CHOOSE DIFFERENT STORIES! and to be creative with the presentations and materials. Don't forget: it's not necessary to spend a lot of money to have a nice work. You can use magazines, newspapers, etc.

The next class we will arrange the due date for this project, but it won't last more than 4 classes. Anyway, I will arrange this stuff with you.

If you don't understand yet what is a storyboard, find out THIS site.
If you wanna check some ideas, check out THIS picture.

To evaluate YOU, I will use this RUBRIC! take a look...

Painless Reading

Is it difficult for you to start reading a book or a short story? Usually when we have to read at school or at the university is a real challenge for us to be focused on it, it can turn boring for some people, or even a torture for others.

When reading becomes a very "painful" business, it is necessary for us to identify the reasons for this inevitable feeling.

Some people "hate" reading because they find some texts are difficult to understand and some others don't know where to start.

My challenge for you is to check out THIS interesting website and choose one of the many short stories you can find here. Read it and then, according to what you could understand and using the BRAINSTORMING, make a list with the main ideas of your story; you will need them for an activity...

This first step could make a difference!

Brainstorming =)

When you decide to write something it is very important to be conscious 'bout what you're gonna write. But... What happens when you feel that you're simply out of ideas? :/ When this situations happens is because you need to do a BRAINSTORMING! ;)

Brainstorming can be used when you really don't know what to write or you need more ideas to continue your work. Some tips I can give you to make a brainstorming:

- Choose any topic of your interests (it can be ANY topic).
- Make a list with the different ideas you may have (Ex: the name of my story, the ending, the name of the characters, etc.)
- Order your ideas in paragraphs or lines, and
- Be careful with your punctuation!

It's very important for YOU to be clear about what you want to write ;) If you need more help, please check out
THIS website!

Good luck!
